What TMC has Done for Me

Two years ago, I started my Junior year of college at East Carolina University. I was majoring in marketing and knew that I needed to find something that could set me apart from my competition when it came time to finding a job. I joined ECU’s American Marketing Association, in search of that key factor to help me be a standout candidate for future employers.

The AMA general meetings always had guest speakers come talk to us and Chris Douglas was one of those speakers. He introduced me to The Triangle Marketing Club. Chris taught me the importance of networking and not being afraid of meeting new people. He invited me to attend TMC’s monthly events to network with professionals from all over the Triangle Area. At first, I was hesitant to attend, and I was always very busy with homework and sports. But then, I finally made it to an event and it changed my entire perspective on how to meet new people and make connections.

I met a variety of different people who all worked in different parts of the marketing field. I was collecting business card after business card and expanding my LinkedIn network. I began attending all of the TMC events and eventually I was asked to become a TMC Promotional Intern.

I began promoting all of the TMC events, helping set up the events, and, as you can tell by reading this, began writing blogs for the TMC website. I also learned more about the TMC sponsors by
interviewing a handful of them. I learned about what their companies do and what makes them successful.

Being an intern for TMC has taught me so much and I am very grateful for Chris coming to speak to us, so long ago. I have been able to meet many new people and build lasting relationships, which is, ultimately, what The Triangle Marketing Club is all about. So, thank you, Triangle Marketing Club, for all you have done for me.
